It’s great to meet the owner (and the car) so I try to do that as often as possible. But if timing and/or distance don’t allow a face-to-face photo session, the owners will often shoot their own photos for my reference. Digital photos sent by email work best. 

In addition to overall shots of the vehicle, it is important to let me know about any special features (aftermarket equipment, customizing, etc.) which affect the appearance of the vehicle. Close-up detail photos are really useful and even photos of those things which may not be visible in the finished painting (such as the interior or the engine compartment) help me to form a more complete understanding of the vehicle and the owner.  

Each portrait includes a special background unique to the owner. I collaborate on this  with the owner or the buyer if it is being purchased as a gift.

The standard size for these paintings is 16” x 20” unframed.  I use a combination of archival inks and acrylic paint on high-quality archival illustration board.

Because each portrait is custom produced, a 50% deposit must accompany each order. Upon receipt of the payment and photos, I will provide you with the projected completion date. Every possible accommodation will be made to suit special circumstances such as gifts, orders for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and I work very carefully not to spoil a surprise.
